One of the great things about Cancun and the Riviera Maya are all the fun tours and activities that you can experience! We have been several times and enjoyed many different ones over the years but here are a couple of our favorites!
We went on the Captain Hook Pirates of the Caribbean Dinner cruise and it was such a fabulous time! The ships are authentic 18th Century replicas of Spanish Galleons. They serve you an amazing dinner including delicious lobster, juicy steaks, or surf and turf- your choice when you book the tour. It is served with salad, veggies, potatoes and dessert. We we were really surprised at how great the food was onboard!
While Captain Hook and the pirates are sharing tales of the past an enemy ship pulls up along beside your ship and they attack! The nets are spread out between the ships and the sword fighting begins! Sparks fly off the swords as Captain Hook proves he owns the sea! It is a very entertaining show and the crowds on each ship are cheering and clapping!
On the way back the party kicks into high gear and there is lots of music and dancing. There is an open bar too which adds to the fun! The pirates pose with you for photos and play games and give away prizes. We thought this was an unforgettable night on the Caribbean Sea! You will enjoy the wonderful breeze and gorgeous views of the Mexican coast. It is fun for people of all ages and will create incredible memories!
If you are staying at the El Dorado Royale you can check with the front desk. They have shuttles that go into Cancun on certain days. You could ride into town on that and then you would just need to get a cab, shuttle or bus back to the hotel that night.
My husband also went on a shared deep sea fishing adventure and he really enjoyed this day! He and a buddy went out and the tour company supplied all of the fishing gear and licenses. They had free beer and were lucky enough to catch an enormous Mahi Mahi. The crew fileted the fish and packed it on ice for the guys to bring back to the hotel. The chefs were nice enough to prepare it for our dinner that night. We had huge trays of the freshest fish you could ask for and couldn’t eat even half of it. So we offered the rest to the friendly staff. We just thought it was so neat that they caught the fish and we had it for dinner that night.
We loved the Jungle Tour and it was a fun couple of hours! You get to drive your own speedboat! We started off driving thru the mangrove channel to the world’s 2nd largest reef. Once we arrived we hopped into the water for some great snorkeling with tropical fish. We snorkeled for about 45 minutes before hopping back into our speedboat. My husband and I laughed the whole way back and enjoyed the view of the coast and our freedom in the little boat. The guide drove ahead of our group and all of our speedboats followed him in a line. It was a great way to enjoy the sunshine and wonderful weather! We took some beautiful underwater photos with a disposable camera that captured many of the fish!
